The Internet has become one of the best inventions in the modern world. It is even difficult to imagine how life would be in the absence of the internet. The internet is a viewed to be the current trend that everyone should fit in all ways. However, there are lots of people who have been brought up without internet these days it’s hard to imagine life without the internet. There are many who have grown up without the reliance and dependence upon it.
How would today’s society fare without internet if it suddenly collapsed or went off-line? How would having no internet affect the general personal user?
Well, apart from every teenager screaming because they can not log on to Facebook. It all comes down to how much we personally use the internet and what for. Some of us hardly use the internet where other pretty much live their life around it. Equally, some actually live a completely new life within the internet like those who use second life.
Some of the things that would happen if the Internet was not in our life a person who is sad, would be talking to his family instead of posting feeling sad on FB or Instagram. Most of the relationship would be caring rather than being possessive. People would actually watch Television with family rather than surfing YouTube privately.
Everyone had a social life, not a social networking life. The newspaper would have been the source of News not twitter. People would value a relationship because it took them a number of long length letters to impress someone. Not some cheap lines from one of those filthy sites. Photos would make more meaning than just for the sake of getting likes on Instagram.
The Internet is a nice medium to connect with the entire World. People use it as a medium to connect with other people, sharing files, entertainment, information and lots of other activities that are useful and beneficial in many terms. While browsing the internet I found many websites which are useful in many ways. Some of them are Google, Facebook, NYTimes, Reddit etc. Many will be difficult to do without internet Medication would change. Specialists wouldn’t have the capacity to audit x-beams from remote areas. We would do the greater part of our shopping in retail locations. We would go out to motion pictures. We would need to invest energy in the library.
Life without internet-communication
We use the internet to communicate more than ever and it becomes an integral part of any standard means of communication. so with no internet, our means of communication would have to adapt. I very much doubt we will be sending smoke signals, but letters would fulfill the hole e-mails left and phones would fulfill the gaps that instant messaging, chat and social media created. An increase in postal mail and phone calls would surely benefit our local postal service and telephone network providers, but what we loved about the internet was that communication was free! So it is a possible exaggeration to assume we would all crack out the pens and paper, start licking a stamp and calling everyone we know. Furthermore, we would probably resort to basics, that remain free and simply go ‘talk’ to friends and family.
Life without the Internet – Effects on Business
Almost all businesses nowadays have some relationship with the Internet whether it’s a simple business listing or an online store. What implications would be put upon businesses across the world with the loss of the Internet Perhaps worldwide recession, stock markets would collapse, millions of businesses go bust and millions of people lose their jobs? The impact on businesses that utilize the Internet would be massive and the make or break factor would be if they could survive without it?
But there may be some advantages amongst this devastation; as consumers we’d probably start buying locally, enriching our local towns and shops. We’d look for local services and sustain local economies by trading within our immediate areas. The loss of jobs that relate to Internet Business would be hard to digest. Jobs at our local supermarket working the tills would suddenly be in high demand as well as many other jobs that don’t directly relate to the Internet.
Access to Information & Resources cut
We all know the Internet is a massive resource directory, full of useful and useless information, all beautifully at our fingertips. So without it where would we find out the chemical compound of silver or the world record time for eating After Eights? Books! Quite simply, we’d resort back to the old school principle of reading books from libraries. It would definitely be harder finding the equivalent information that the Internet can provide in your local library but if you think about it the Internet basically took the concept of a library and expanded it by about a million times!.
Here I am mentioning some reasons why people use the internet.
- For getting Information
- Communication is another way to use the internet.
- People use various mail services like Gmail, Yahoo mail, AOL, and Hotmail etc to send files.
- Entertainment
+ There is a very close relation of the internet to entertainment. It’s watching videos on YouTube, playing live games, or downloading movies
- Making money
+ People can make money online by using the internet.
- Marketing
+ Internet marketers use the internet to sell products.
- Online education
Online education is the very famous medium of study in developed countries and growing in developing nations. Various websites such as Khan Academy and Free Video Lectures offer online courses to learn various things like designing, programming, engineering, medical, finance, and other subjects. This is a very helpful medium to promote education in that place where courses are not available easily.
The Internet is growing at tremendous speed. It became one of the important parts of life. Life without the internet cannot be imagined. Do you know any more use of the internet? A life without internet: Impossible or not?
This time away from the internet or at least with it being used for a limited time has made me think about our life with the use internet and how different it must have been before it and how different it would be without it now. I believe myself privileged to be the generation that has always had computer and internet within their life, however now when I think about it those that have always had the internet do not see to understand how to survive without it. Social media and internet as a whole have become a new way of life for us all. Social media makes up a big part of the active internet as it is now how we let people know what is going on from birthday to night out. We no longer have to communicate via our phones or even post to know what our friends are doing. Without the internet I feel a little cut off from the rest of the world and my friends.
Of course, I have a mobile but no one is going to text me all day to let me know the silly thing going on their lives that otherwise, they would have uploaded to the social media sites. A life without internet, at least in my view, appears to be impossible; we have drifted so far from the past and how we used to be in order to become more technologically advanced. technology and the internet have become a major part of our daily lives. Even those who were not raised around the computer and the internet have to develop and adapt to the new way of life.
I can honestly say that I will be extremely happy when my internet is in my new home and I can go back to normal once again . It is something that has been missed but has to lead to many fascinating questions to roll around my mind.
Above all, we have to remember we got to where we are today without the Internet. The Internet was a technological advancement that excelled us into the 21st century and changed the way we socialized, did business and purchased goods. It paved the way for the future and still has many exciting advancements ahead of its self. Witnessing the loss of the Internet is probably very unlikely, but either way, I’m quite sure as a human race we’d adapt and persevere as we have done for thousands of years. Those who grew up with the Internet well established around them simply can’t comprehend life without it. There are however many of us who practiced life before it’s time and has experienced a life without the Internet.
Conclusion
Conclusively everywhere you look today, the internet is a major part of everyone’s life. Whether its school, business, personal life, or entertainment, the internet has influenced us immensely. Its influence on trade and commerce enabling people to do business worldwide have made the internet a necessity. And although life without the internet is possible but life would be very slow, boring, inefficient and ineffective. But it is believed people would have adjusted and maybe even come up with innovations and solutions that would ensure life gets better. But the internet has made human’s life better economially, socially and even politically.
